ADHESIVE FETUSES
(for accordion and electronics — 2004)
Originally I had planned to write a series of short pieces for beginning accordionists titled "Embryons." After starting two of them, I put them aside for other projects. Several years later the notion of a piece for accordion and electronics took hold and I borrowed and developed a bit of the Embryon material for the accordion part. The piece as heard on this homemade recording isn't complete but illustrates one way of working electronics into a piece for solo acoustic instrument. While the accordion is a very physical breathing instrument, the electronic sounds here emerge from an unseen place, internal as in an intrauterine world. Performed by Steve Mobia on electronics and free bass accordion.
